Nicolas Sarkozy, husband of music businesswoman Carla Bruni, wants to tax Google advertising income for clicks from French users. Some of the funds would then be passed to young people in the form of a card worth 200 euros ($290US) that could be used to download music from Apple and other outlets.

Sarkozy’s attack of corporations on the Internet is far reaching and will eventually affect every website that earns from a French click.

Police Create Internet Laws on The Fly

Garden City, NY – Police on Long Island have arrested James Roppo, 44, of Hoboken NJ and charged him with a litany of misdemeanors. Nassau County Police Detective Lt. Kevin Smith claims “We asked for his help in getting the crowd to go away by sending out a Twitter message. By not cooperating with us, we feel he put lives in danger and the public at risk.” So it was that the law demands you Twitter or go to jail.

Minister of Culture and child tourism aficionado Frederic Mitterrand is happy to see the world’s most draconian Internet law come into effect in France. Mitterrand, son of the late x-president of France was appointed by his crony, Nicolas Sarkozy, to minister of culture after showing his love of young child tourism to Thailand in a recent memoirs.

Is the Internet Ready for Pay Per Use?

Large corporate telecommunication companies have been pushing for a pay for use charge on Internet access for years. They want that two tier Internet and will stop at nothing to implement it. The wolves are out to fleece the sheep. One particular large wolf, Frontier Communications Corp likes to be seen as a nice rural provider, but this is one of the largest telecoms in the nation. Providing services in 23 states for digital TV, broadband, and telephone services among others. Their goal is to charge users by use rather than flat monthly access. There goes the neighborhood.

Here is another site that comes in and ignores the robots.txt. They come in as a browser. It is not human, it is a robot and it is searching your site many times at once. This spider attacks your site and will pull down every page and link on your site multiple times. You can pass several gigs in a few minutes to these hogs. So who is Attributor?

Hello there fans! Been a week since the great crash, or maybe I should say hack.

A horde of hackers got into a WordPress install and wiped out many sites on the server in accomplishing this. As we went through the sites restoring TekTalk database was destroyed in the process.

A Jun 2008 database was recovered and some posts will start to re-appear here that were important historically. Otherwise we will continue to report the latest events and news in the tech heavy world on this new install.

As we predicted months ago the Google’s deal with Yahoo is dead. Since it was never their intention to complete it is nothing to worry about for Google, but Yahoo’s Yang bet his stockholders equity on it. Now months later Jerry Yang admits the Microsoft deal is the best he could get. But Microsoft has gone stage left and whatever offer it may make will be far less than last spring.

When someone popped the message up in my Skype window with a link to Search Me I was not in the mood. I went there anyway as this was sent from a pretty cool artist. At first it looked like Cuil, the bandwidth hogs from hell, until I did a search.

Yahoo tries to preempt government investigations into Google/Yahoo advertising deal with manipulated advertising returns

Yahoo held a three day press conference in Washington last week to defend its joining in the Google adsense network. At risk here is creating a search advertising monopoly that grants Google 80 percent of the online advertising for search returns. Google is being evil and Yahoo is desperate for those Adsense revenues.
