Windows 10 The Ultimate Personal Operating System
The new Windows 10 is out and upgrading is free and easy.
I just moved away finally from my XP operating system and think Windows 10 works pretty good as an upgrade. I did have Windows 8 and 8.1 installed but never used it. It was the bad taste of Windows 8, which really was a touch screen operating system. Microsoft worked hard to correct that in Windows 8.1 and 10 is a vast improvement on that.
Let’s understand that Microsoft, like Apple and Google operating systems, want you on mobile devices without storage locally. That is the reason 8.0 was such a bummer for the majority of users as we still work on computers at home and work and using mobile phones for the Internet work is still not ready for prime time.
I loaded the Windows 10 onto my 7 year old PC which runs an Intel Core *dual core* at 3.2GHZ CPU with 4 gig of memory. It runs Windows 10 quite well, although I have seen it on a quad core 3.2ghz with 8gig memory and it really RUNS. But you do not need a hardware upgrade.
Some of the nifty features within Windows 10 include the new Edge browser, Cortana, Music, Video, and a whole lot more including direct links to the Microsoft Store.
If you just install it out of the package with all the defaults you should be quite happy. As you go along you will be introduced to a slew of new Microsoft offerings. These include the music store as well as cloud storage.
With cloud storage you can synchronize all your data on devices across a myriad of platforms and locations and best of all it is free!
